The conflict began in February when the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran. This led to the imposition of an Iranian-led blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest oil shipping routes.
Trump said that reaching an agreement with Iran is not required before the United States withdraws. βIran doesnβt have to make a deal with me,β he told reporters.
He also said the withdrawal would not depend on the Strait of Hormuz being fully reopened, according to the Wall Street Journal.
