The FBI launched an investigation in February to investigate abnormal activity on the network it uses to conduct its surveillance business and which contains sensitive law enforcement information, the report said.
Officials from the FBI and Ministry of Justice Remedial efforts are underway related to the incident, according to the report.
“The threat actor’s techniques identified to date appear sophisticated. These techniques include leveraging a commercial Internet service provider’s infrastructure to exploit the FBI’s network security controls,” the agencies told Congress in an earlier notice, according to the report.
