MSU 2.0 unveils IP expansion strategy, featuring AI creation tools and a unified on-chain content hub.

Maple Story Universe (MSU), the blockchain-powered expansion of Nexon’s popular MapleStory franchise, today marks its one-year anniversary following the launch of MapleStory N on May 15, 2025. Over the past year, the platform has recorded more than 150 million cumulative cross-chain transactions and surpassed 3.82 million registered accounts, reflecting the continued engagement of the global player base and the continued development of the ecosystem.
A year later, MSU enters its next phase with the introduction of MSU 2.0, an expansion designed to transform how intellectual property (IP), builders and players interact in a shared digital environment, powered by AI creation tools and on-chain infrastructure. MSU 2.0 will be implemented during 2026-2027, during which new features will be gradually developed and released to developers.
A modular launch that sets a new standard
MSU launched in May 2025 as one of the biggest debuts in the Web3 gaming ecosystem. Built on the MapleStory IP, the pre-launch Scroll NFT campaign has recorded nearly 1.7 million Scrolls minted, and has been officially confirmed as the largest NFT mint in Avalanche Network history. On launch day, weekly active MSU-related titles on Avalanche Network increased by 549 percent, reflecting strong user interest and anticipation surrounding the title’s release.
Following the launch, the market continued its strong performance, with over 446,716 buyers and sellers transacting daily on average. To date, MSU has accounted for 23.3% of total activity on the Avalanche network, representing a significant share of activity across the leading chains. MSU’s native token NXPC was also listed on seven major exchanges at launch, including Binance, Bybit, Upbit, and Bithumb.

Designed to expand engagement across the ecosystem and support new forms of creativity, distribution and marketing, MSU 2.0 reflects the ongoing evolution of MapleStory Universe from a single game environment to a scalable platform.

At the heart of MSU 2.0 is VIBE IP, a new technology stack built on two fundamental pillars that redefine what it means to build with on-chain IP. The first pillar transforms access to IP by providing creators access to MapleStory N gameplay and behavioral data through custom APIs, turning IP from a brand asset into a data-rich living foundation to create in compliance with applicable privacy laws. The second pillar establishes the Henesys on-chain build economy, built on Avalanche L1 to simplify IP licensing, revenue settlement and payments in a single system.
Together, these pillars are supported by blockchain infrastructure and AI-powered creation tools. Blockchain technology allows for seamless licensing, payment and settlement, entirely on-chain, while AI-powered “biocoding” allows anyone’s idea to become a large-scale product, enabling broader participation in building and launching IP-based content. This foundation positions MSU to onboard additional Nexon IPs over time, building multiple on-chain, AI-powered IP universes, with the VIBE IP technology stack gradually rolling out in phases over the coming months.
MapleStory N Anniversary Update
MapleStory N, MSU’s flagship game, has achieved a series of milestones over the past year that reflect continued player engagement across the ecosystem. The end-of-year winter update generated an influx of over 130,000 users, nearly three-quarters of whom were new users. This update also brought in-game spending to its highest level since the immediate post-launch period, with player spending exceeding rewards distributed, reflecting a more active and sustainable in-game economy driven by deeper engagement.
Building on this momentum, MapleStory N is now accessible to major players. Regular users can interact with the game like any traditional MMORPG, with fewer blockchain barriers. Web3’s features have been enhanced to deliver meaningful value while maintaining a smooth gaming experience, making the platform easier for a wider audience to adopt.
As MapleStory N enters its second year, the development team will roll out waves of in-game updates at an accelerated pace, expanding gameplay and introducing new challenges. This will be supported by a steady rhythm of major releases throughout the year, including the upcoming Black Mage update and other important content.
