
Emirates used Crypto.com’s payment solution, enabling its customers to use it via its website and app, while processing transactions in compliance with UAE regulatory standards.
Crypto.com Pay™ is available to eligible UAE residents for bookings priced and settled in the UAE fiat currency, the UAE Dirham. Earlier this year, Crypto.com, through its UAE entity, Foris DAX Middle East FZE, obtained a Stored Value Facility (SVF) license from the Central Bank of the UAE, allowing it to offer cryptocurrency payments in the UAE.

Emirates customers will see Crypto.com Pay as a payment option
When customers use the Emirates website or the Emirates app, they can choose to pay at checkout via Crypto.com and can complete the payment using their own account. wallet on their phone or a QR code on their desktop and then approve the payment using the app.
Once payment is approved, the booking is confirmed and an e-ticket is issued on their screen.
This service is part of Dubai’s cashless strategy within the D33 economic agenda. It aims to make 90 percent of all financial transactions in the government and private sectors digital by the end of 2026.
Emirates joins only three other airlines globally in the cryptocurrency payments space: Latvia’s airBaltic, Spain’s Vueling, and Japan’s Peach Aviation.
It is worth noting that it is the Crypto.com entity that will accept the payments and then exchange them for either an AED stablecoin or an AED fiat currency to Emirates. This is because the UAE Central Bank only accepts UAE Dirham stablecoins or UAE Dirham fiat currency to pay for goods and products in the country.
