TLDR
- Nvidia and SK Group announced a partnership valued at more than $500 billion to build AI infrastructure.
- SK Telecom will build a 2-gigawatt AI factory using Nvidia’s Vera Rubin systems powered by SK Hynix HBM4 memory.
- The first facility is expected to be operational in 2027.
- Nvidia will also invest $1 billion in Korean cloud company Naver to expand its data center.
- In a separate deal, Samsung signed a $200 billion memorandum of understanding with Broadcom covering memory and foundry technologies.
Nvidia has secured a long-term AI memory supply agreement with South Korea’s SK Hynix, part of a broader partnership with SK Group valued at more than $500 billion. The deal was announced late Friday at the Artificial Intelligence Summit in San Francisco, which was attended by South Korean officials including President Lee Jae-myung.
NVDA stock closed at $206.84, down 0.92% on the day, with after-hours trading showing minimal movement.
The agreement covers the construction of the AI factory and the supply of AI memory. SK Telecom, a subsidiary of SK Group, will build a 2-gigawatt AI-powered cloud facility using Nvidia’s DSX platform and Vera Rubin accelerated compute. This facility is expected to be operational in 2027.
SK Hynix A leading producer of high-bandwidth memory, Nvidia has been moving quickly to secure supply as the AI boom creates a global HBM shortage.

“The expansion will include a joint development opportunity for us on next-generation SK Hynix AI memory, and this will help us secure a stable supply of HBM memory,” said Raj Mirpuri, vice president of the Nvidia Foundation.
The two companies will develop and improve next-generation AI memory solutions, including next generations of high-bandwidth memory beyond HBM4.
A broader push towards AI infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region
The partnership signals that large-scale AI infrastructure is no longer just a story of scale. Now foreign governments and major conglomerates are entering the picture in a meaningful way.
South Korea has what it takes to become a global powerhouse in artificial intelligence, Jensen Hwang said, pointing to its networks, data centers, chip technology and industrial scale.
SK Group Chairman Chi Tae-won said that competitiveness in the era of artificial intelligence depends not only on how artificial intelligence is used, but on how much intelligence can be produced.
Nvidia It also announced a $1 billion investment in Naver, a Korean cloud company that builds data centers around Nvidia graphics processing units. The project targets a capacity of 200 MW and aims to give customers in South Korea and globally early access to AI computing resources.
Samsung and Broadcom are also making moves
Separately, Samsung Electronics signed a $200 billion memorandum of understanding with Broadcom to expand cooperation across memory and foundry technologies. Samsung said the deal aims to support the next generation of artificial intelligence infrastructure.
SK Hynix listed on the Nasdaq earlier this month as part of an effort to fund its infrastructure growth plans.
SK Group is the second largest conglomerate in South Korea, with more than 175 subsidiaries and more than 100,000 employees worldwide. It works across artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy and life sciences.
