TLDR

  • Nvidia unveiled its RTX Spark superchip at Computex 2026, targeting next-generation AI-powered Windows PCs.
  • The chip delivers 1 petaflop of AI performance and up to 128GB of unified memory
  • Devices from Dell, Lenovo, HP, Asus, Microsoft Surface, and MSI are scheduled to release this fall
  • NVDA stock was down 1.45% on the day, while Intel (INTC) stock was down 5.14%.
  • The United States separately tightened rules related to the export of advanced Nvidia chips to companies affiliated with China

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang took the stage in Taipei on Monday to launch the RTX Spark, a new superchip designed to bring AI agents to Windows PCs. The announcement came at the Computex technology show and marked Nvidia’s biggest push yet into the consumer PC market.

NVDA stock fell 1.45% on the day of the announcement. Intel stock fell by 5.14%, AMD stock fell by 0.38%, while Microsoft stock rose by 5.45%.

Huang described it as “a big deal like reinventing the phone into what we now know as the smartphone.” The chip combines a Blackwell RTX GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores and a 20-core Grace CPU, connected via Nvidia’s chip-to-chip NVLink interconnect.

The RTX Spark is capable of running large 120 billion parameter language models natively, rendering 90GB 3D scenes, editing 12K video, and running AAA games at 1440p above 100fps.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella endorsed the launch, saying the goal was to bring “unlimited intelligence to every Windows home and office.”

A direct challenge to Intel, AMD and Apple

Analysts have pointed to the move as a serious threat to existing PC chip players. Stephen Wu, founder of Carthage Capital and a former artificial intelligence software engineer, called it an “existential threat” to current laptop chip designs, and called Intel and AMD “the direct victims.”

Lenovo, HP, Dell, Asus, Microsoft Both Surface and MSI are building RTX Spark hardware. Acer and Gigabyte will follow. These machines are scheduled to be launched in the fall of 2026.

The PC market is dominated by Lenovo, HP, Dell and Apple, which together accounted for nearly 75% of global PC sales in the first quarter of 2025, according to Gartner.

One outstanding concern of all is cost. A shortage of memory chips is driving up prices across consumer electronics, raising questions about whether buyers will actually be able to afford the new devices.

Adobe partnership and software support

Nvidia It announced a deep partnership with Adobe, which is redesigning Photoshop and Premiere from the ground up for the RTX Spark. The collaboration is expected to deliver up to 2x faster AI and graphics performance across Adobe creative tools.

More than 100 software providers have already committed to the platform, including Blackmagic Design, Blender, CapCut and ComfyUI, along with game developers such as Riot Games, Remedy Entertainment and NetEase.

Nvidia also collaborated with Microsoft to create a secure on-device proxy framework called NVIDIA OpenShell, which is designed to allow Artificial intelligence agents Run exclusively on local devices.

On Sunday, a day before the Computex keynote, the US Commerce Department tightened export rules on advanced Nvidia chips. New guidelines have clarified that a license is required to ship chips such as Blackwell processors to subsidiaries of Chinese companies based outside China.

Nvidia’s stock market cap currently stands at more than $5 trillion, making it the most valuable company in the world, a position it has reached on the back of record GPU sales for data centers.
