Worldcoin (WLD) fell 13.4% to $0.28 on Friday, April 17, as parent company World announced a major upgrade to its identity verification system and a wave of new platform integrations.

This decline came despite the broader cryptocurrency market rising by 2.2%, supported by news of easing tensions between the United States and Iran and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
World, co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, held an event in San Francisco to announce what it called “World 4.0.” The update positions World ID as a “full human proof” infrastructure for consumers, businesses, and AI agents.
The system uses a device called an Orb, which personally scans the user’s face and iris to create a unique encryption code. Images are deleted after processing, and only anonymous data is shared over a distributed network.
“World 4.0 is powerful, scalable, and open. In the age of artificial intelligence, being human will be incredibly valuable, and the Internet will want to know you’re human,” Daniel Schor, a senior executive, said at the event.
Sam Altman added: “World ID is on its way to becoming a true human network for the Internet.”
New features in the update include account-based identity, multi-key support, and account recovery tools. World has also launched a dedicated World ID app, currently in beta, to allow users to manage and share their credentials across platforms.
New platform integrations
Video platform Zoom is integrating a universal “deep face” feature to verify that meeting participants are real humans and not fake ones. Electronic signature company Docusign is adding global identity verification to its digital agreements.

Dating app Tinder is expanding its “Verified Human” badge globally for users in the United States. World also introduced a “Concert Kit” tool to help artists book tickets to real people, cutting out exploit bots.
Gaming partnerships with Razer and Mythical Games were announced, while Reddit said it was exploring global tools for bot detection.
Enterprise Agent and AI Tools
On the institutional side, world Works with Okta, Vercel, and Browserbase. These integrations aim to build layers of trust for automated workflows.
The scientist also launched “AgentKit,” a toolkit for developers that connects AI agents to verified human identities. Coinbase already announced in March that it would be using AgentKit for its x402 AI micropayments protocol.
Other current partners include Amazon Web Services, Shopify, Browserbase, Exa, and VanEck.
Some critics have raised privacy concerns about the widespread collection of biometric data, especially when managed by a single company.
WLD is the native token of the World Wide Web, used to reward users for verifying their identity and promoting transactions within its ecosystem.
